Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Celebrates Shivaganga's Rich Heritage and Development Initiatives

Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister MK Stalin commemorated the rich Tamil heritage, valor, and sacrifices of Shivaganga on Saturday, emphasizing that the district symbolizes resistance, freedom, and social justice. While addressing a public gathering, he referenced the archaeological discoveries at Keeladi, highlighting that they serve as evidence of the flourishing Tamil civilization in the region thousands of years ago.


Tributes to Freedom Fighters

Paying homage to freedom fighters such as Muthu Vaduganath Thevar, Velu Nachiyar, Vellachi Nachiyar, the Maruthu Brothers, and revolutionary Kuyili, the Chief Minister remarked that their sacrifices continue to inspire the Tamil community today. He stated that Shivaganga is the land that transformed sacrifice into strength. During his visit, Stalin inaugurated and laid the foundation for 49 completed projects worth ₹2,560 crores and 28 new projects costing ₹13.36 crores. Additionally, he distributed welfare assistance amounting to ₹205 crores to 15,453 beneficiaries.


Educational Developments

Stalin inaugurated new buildings at the Chettinad Agricultural College and Research Institute in Kanadukathan and the Government Law College in Kazhanivasal, KaraiKudi, which were constructed at a cost of ₹100 crores, providing facilities for 1,300 students. The auditorium of the agricultural college has been named after Bharat Ratna Dr. C. Subramaniam, a former Union Minister of Agriculture. He also launched joint drinking water schemes worth ₹2,119.07 crores, covering 2,452 rural settlements, 11 panchayat unions, eight municipalities, and three municipal corporations in the district. A mini tidal park built at a cost of ₹32 crores was also inaugurated.


Welfare Schemes for Women and Children

Stalin outlined the benefits provided under the Dravidian model government. He mentioned that 2.38 million women in Shivaganga receive ₹1,000 monthly under the 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai' scheme. The 'Pudhumai Pen' scheme offers monthly assistance to 8,469 female students, while 6,076 boys benefit from the 'Tamil Pudhalvan' scheme. Women self-help groups have been granted loans totaling ₹855 crores. The 'Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam' scheme has benefited over 1.2 million individuals, and 1.34 million people are covered under the Chief Minister's comprehensive health insurance scheme. Furthermore, the Chief Minister's breakfast scheme provides nutritious meals to 37,000 school children daily.
