A chilling video of Hollywood legend Catherine O'Hara has resurfaced after her tragic death aged 71. Tributes have poured in from heartbroken fans and her celebrity friends after the news broke on Friday.
Just hours after the actress's death was confirmed, footage of the mum-of-two as she joked about the final moments of her life resurfaced. The TV icon, who famously starred in Home Alone as Kate McCallister, was asked in an interview 13 years ago how she envisioned her last breath and responded in her usual playful manner.
In Vanity Fair's renowned Proust questionnaire, O'Hara envisioned a vastly different scenario than the one she had experienced just days ago. In the interview, the actress said she hoped to die "laughing, surrounded by my old grandchildren, who are telling me to 'let go, already, Grandma!'"
An unsettling 911 dispatch audio revealed the acting legend was experiencing "difficulty breathing" before paramedics raced to her Brentwood residence on Friday morning. The Schitt's Creek star was then transported to the hospital and declared dead within hours of the emergency call.
O'Hara leaves behind her husband of nearly 34 years, Bo Welch, a production designer whom she met while they were both working on the 1988 classic Beetlejuice.
The couple welcomed two children, Matthew, 31, and Luke, 28, who both followed in their parents' footsteps and pursued careers in the entertainment industry.
The late After Hours star is also survived by her siblings Michael O'Hara, Mary Margaret O'Hara, Maureen Jolley, Marcus O'Hara, Tom O'Hara and Patricia Wallice.
Reacting to the news of her death, Macaulay Culkin, who starred as her on-screen son in Home Alone, issued a gut-wrenching tribute when he said: "I thought we had more time."
Taking to Instagram, the former child actor penned: "Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you, but I had so much more to say.
"I love you. I'll see you later," the 45-year-old added alongside sweet before-and-after photos with Catherine. One was from their beloved 1990 Christmas movie, when he was just 10 years old, and another was from their reunion at his 2023 Hall of Fame celebration.
