Trent Alexander-Arnold has posted a fresh update on social media as he approaches a comeback from injury at Real Madrid. The former Liverpool star has been sidelined with a rectus femoris of his left quadriceps since December and is yet to make an appearance under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

The right-back is expected to return next month and has resumed training with Madrid. Spanish media suggested Arbeloa has held discussions with AlexanderArnold to clarify that he doesn't feature in his longterm vision, though these reports have been refuted. The rightback has only spent half a season in Madrid, yet the transfer has failed to meet his expectations.

AlexanderArnold's decision to depart his boyhood club for a new adventure with Madrid ahead of the 2025/26 campaign became a deeply divisive move.

He joined for £10million before last summer's Club World Cup, but fitness problems have restricted him to just 11 appearances across all competitions this season.

Alexander-Arnold has now returned to training and is prepared to conclude his injury lay-off, sharing several training images on Instagram as he builds towards full fitness.

AlexanderArnold's most recent problem followed a hamstring complaint, sparking doubts not only about his future at Madrid but also regarding his prospects of securing a spot in England's World Cup squad this summer.

Despite the furore surrounding his exit last year, AlexanderArnold was given a heartfelt send-off from Liverpool fans following his 354th appearance in May.

"He deserved it. I am very happy for him and everyone in and around the club that things worked out the way they did," head coach Arne Slot said at the time.

"It went brilliantly when our fans are together. How brilliant they were before the Tottenham game, during the Tottenham game.

"Afterwards I don't think you see as many special celebrations as you saw four weeks ago. I don't think you see many celebrations like we had them today.

"It's no surprise to me that they (the fans) were brilliant again today as they were throughout the whole season, as they were towards Trent."
