Vadodara, Jan 31: Former Indian international cricketer Jacob Martin was arrested in Vadodara, Gujarat, after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and crashing his luxury SUV into three parked cars in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred around 2:30 am near Punit Nagar Society in the Akota area, when Martin, 53, reportedly lost control of his MG Hector while driving in an intoxicated state, causing significant damage to the three stationary vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Martin, who played 10 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India between 1999 and 2001 and had a prolific domestic career, was taken into custody by Akota Police later in the morning. Officers registered a case against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and drunk driving after a complaint from one of the car owners. His SUV was also seized as part of the investigation.

The former Baroda Ranji Trophy captain has previously faced legal trouble; in 2011 he was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a human trafficking case.
