New Delhi: The 5-match T20 series between India and New Zealand has concluded. India won the series 4–1. India had already clinched the series by winning the first three matches, however New Zealand won the fourth match. India ended the series on a great note by winning the final match.

Arshdeep Singh created a new record

In the fifth T20 match played in Thiruvananthapuram, Arshdeep Singh made a new record in T20 international cricket. He has completed 50 wickets in powerplay. Usually batsmen are successful in making big scores in this period, but Arshdeep achieved this feat in terms of bowling.

Arshdeep Singh became an identity

In this match against New Zealand, Arshdeep Singh achieved his 50th powerplay wicket by dismissing Tim Seifert. He achieved this feat in the 74th innings of his 75th T20 match. Arshdeep has taken 50 wickets in the powerplay at an economy rate of 7.9, which means he takes a wicket every 17 balls.

Overtaking Bumrah on top

Arshdeep Singh is now at number one in the list of Indian bowlers who have taken the most wickets in the powerplay. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken 47 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah has 34 wickets and Washington Sundar has 21 wickets. Arshdeep is the most successful Indian bowler in this format, having taken 118 wickets in 76 matches.

Arshdeep’s feat of taking five wickets

Arshdeep’s average is 19.05 and economy is 8.53. His best performance was taking 5 wickets for 51 runs. In this format, Jasprit Bumrah has 107 wickets and Hardik Pandya has 105 wickets. Arshdeep has taken 5 wickets for the first time in this match against New Zealand. Earlier, he had taken 4 wickets for 9 runs against America.

India’s strong performance

It is worth noting that ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, India performed well in this home five-match T20 series against New Zealand. The final match was played in Thiruvananthapuram, where the Indian team, batting first, scored a huge score of 271 runs in 20 overs.
