Warriors appear to be in driver’s seat to trade for Antetokounmpo

The Golden State Warriors continue to struggle to stay afloat. Steph Curry is still at the peak of his powers, but he can only do so much on his own.

Considering that, GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. may finally make the biggest move of his tenure.

According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Warriors are willing to go the extra mile to get Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, with everybody not named Steph Curry on the table.

Warriors are willing to meet Bucks’ asking price

Per Poole, the team that potentially acquires Antetokounmpo will have to have to give up “a whole lot.”

The Warriors have been reluctant to give up picks from the post-Curry era, and they also said they “don’t envision” trading the injured Jimmy Butler. Now, it seems like that stance has changed.

Earlier in the week, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst also reported that the Warriors could outbid every team keeping tabs on Antetokounmpo with their trade package.

The clock is ticking, and the Feb. 5 trade deadline looms large. Antetokounmpo will be out for the next weeks with a calf injury, but that won’t stop multiple teams from engaging in a bidding war for his services.
