Goddess Chitralekha: Storyteller and spiritual speaker Devi Chitralekha is known for her discourses based on Bhagavad Purana. He was born on 19 January 1997 in a village in Palwal district of Haryana. She often participates in religious events and meetings. Recently she had reached Kotvan (Mathura) in the Shri Ramkatha Mahotsav of Peethadhishwar Shri Rajendra Das Maharaj. After the photo of this event was shared on Instagram, people’s attention fell on the bracelet on her hand.
What was special about the bracelet?
The bracelet worn by Goddess Chitralekha had a blue colored evil eye sign. It is called ʿAyn-Al-Hasood in Arabic, meaning ‘Eye of the Jealous’. The concept of evil eye is very old, but in modern times it has been made popular in fashion and jewelery also. In India it is mostly worn as a fashion accessory. In some beliefs, it is considered a talisman that protects from evil powers and negative energy.

According to Britannica, evil eye amulets are often given as gifts in the Levant, Afghanistan, southern Spain and Mexico. Even in Islam, the evil eye is mentioned in the Quran and its ill effects are taken seriously in the Muslim society.
It is usually shaped like an eye, with a blue pupil and white iris. The Evil Eye is considered one of the oldest superstitions in the world. Its mention is also found in ancient Greek and Roman scripts.
Evil eye becomes fashion trend
The evil eye has now become not just an amulet but a fashion statement. It can be seen in necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Kim Kardashian has worn it many times as a bracelet and headpiece. Fashion model Gigi Hadid adopted it in 2017.
Bollywood celebs also use jewelery with this symbol. Thus, the bracelet of Goddess Chitralekha is not only a part of fashion but is also considered a symbol of protection from the evil eye.
