Sant Ravidas Life Lessons: Today, on 1 February 2026, the birth anniversary of Saint Ravidas ji is being celebrated. Guru Ravidas ji was such a great personality of the Indian saint tradition, who gave the message of devotion, equality and humanity to the entire society.

He was not only a saint and poet, but also a fearless social reformer, who raised his voice against evils like casteism and discrimination. Through his couplets and words he taught that the path of devotion to God passes through purity of mind and excellence of deeds.

What are the precious couplets of Saint Ravidas ji?

1. If the mind is healed then the meaning of Ganga in Kathoti

Meaning- When a person whose mind is pure, Mother Ganga also comes in a vessel.

2. Do not worship Brahmins who are devoid of virtues, worship the feet of Chandal who are proficient in virtues.

Meaning- One should not be worshiped just because he holds a venerable position. If a person does not have the qualities worthy of that position then he should not be worshipped. Instead, it is better to worship a person who is not in a high position but is very virtuous.

3. Worship in the mind, incense in the mind, easy form from the mind

Meaning- God resides only in a pure mind. If you have no hatred for anyone, no greed or malice in your mind, then your mind is God’s temple, lamp and incense. God always resides in the mind having such pure thoughts.

4. Ravidas, by birth, no one is lowly, no one is lowly, no one is lowly, but the mud of lowly deeds.

Meaning- No person is inferior or small because of birth in any caste. What makes a person bad is his actions. Therefore we should always pay attention to our actions. Our actions should always be high.

5. Raidas, where should I go, Ram remains in the rain, he runs like a god, there is no need for anger or business.

Meaning- The devotee in whose heart only the name of Ram resides day and night, is like Ram himself. There is such an illusion in the name of Ram that a devotee who chants it day and night neither gets angry due to anyone’s anger nor does the feeling of lust ever dominate him.

6. Don’t ask about birth and caste, ka and caste. All the sons of Raidas belong to God, no one belongs to any caste.

Meaning- One should not ask someone’s caste because there is no caste system in the world. All humans are children of the same God. There is no caste or bad caste here.

7. Where will the green diamond come from, I hope it will come, you will go to Jampur, Sat Bhashai Ravidas

Meaning- Hari is more precious than diamond i.e. God. Those who hope for anything other than Him definitely go to hell. so devotion to god It is useless to wander here and there without leaving it.
