Directed by Anurag Singh, this film is the sequel to JP Dutta’s famous Border (1997). It stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in lead roles. Other cast includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh.

latest box office figures

In the domestic market, the film has collected around Rs 252-277 crore net till the ninth day. It got a tremendous business of about Rs 60 crore on Republic Day. On the second Saturday, the film showed good growth and earned between Rs 17-20 crores.

Its collection abroad has been Rs 40-50 crore (about more than 5 million dollars). The total global earnings have reached between Rs 350-367 crores. The budget of the film was around Rs 275 crore, which has now been completely recovered and is giving good profits.

Border 2 compared to old war films

Border 2 has left many big names behind. Vicky Kaushal’s Uri (2019) had earned a total of Rs 342 crore. The gross of Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone’s film Fighter (2024) was Rs 344 crore. Akshay Kumar’s Kesari collected Rs 202 crores. Border 2 has crossed all these and become the most successful film of 2026. The audience liked the patriotic story, action scenes and emotional moments.

old records of indian films

Most of India’s successful war films came before 2000, when tickets were cheap and the box office was small. In terms of viewership, the original Border (3.7 crore tickets) and Haqeeqat (2 crore tickets) are still ahead. Border 2 has sold more than 1 crore tickets domestically so far, which is good but less than the old record.

Historical films like Mughal-e-Azam or Bahubali are not considered war dramas, otherwise the comparison would have been more difficult. Overall, T-Series is excited with the great success of the film. He has revealed plans to make Border 3.
