History was rewritten at the 2026 Australian Open after tennis legend Novak Djokovic clinched a career-defining victory over Botic van de Zandschulp in the third round.
With the 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) win, the Serbian star officially became the first player to reach 400 Grand Slam match wins, moving 31 wins clear of the previous record held by Roger Federer.
This landmark achievement was part of the groundbreaking opening week for Djokovic, as he defeated Pedro Martinez in the first-round match and secured his 100th match win at the Australian Open.
Despite the rise of young stars like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the 38-year-old has been in masterclass form, reaching the quarter-final without dropping a single set.

The 24-time major champion dispelled all doubts regarding his longevity, saying: “I think that on a given day when I’m feeling good physically and mentally, when I’m playing well, I can challenge anybody and I still believe I can beat all of them.”
Djokovic continues to touch new heights every day by showing up on the tennis court. On January 28, he faced Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals, continuing his quest for an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam title at his favourite arena.
