Kottigehara: A woman delivered a baby boy inside an ambulance while being taken to a hospital after going into labour pain in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district on Sunday.
Incident details:
The couple, migrant workers from Assam, were working at a coffee estate in Balur village of Mudigere taluk. On Sunday, the pregnant woman suddenly developed labour pain. An ambulance was immediately arranged to shift her to the Mudigere Government Hospital for treatment.
Delivery en route:
However, before the ambulance could reach the hospital, her labour pain intensified. As it was clear that it would take some more time to reach the hospital, ambulance driver Arif safely stopped the vehicle on the roadside and assisted in the delivery.
A baby boy was born inside the ambulance. Both the mother and the newborn are reported to be healthy. The timely action and presence of mind shown by the ambulance driver have been widely appreciated.
