Carlos Alcaraz is the 2026 Australian Open champion, making history in his victory over Novak Djokovic. The Spanish star, who won 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5, is now the youngest man to achieve the Career Slam - winning all four Majors. He needed to come from behind to do so, however, with Djokovic replicating the effort he used to down Jannik Sinner in the opening set.
But from that moment on, Alcaraz was firmly on top. He gave Djokovic very little in the second and third sets, before falling to the crowd with emotions overcoming him by taking the fourth set. Both players gave classy speeches and praised one another, with Djokovic hinting he may never return as a player again after falling at the final hurdle at the age of 38.
