February is the shortest month of the year, and naturally, this means it has fewer holidays compared to other months. Consequently, bank holidays in February are also relatively fewer. Bank holidays are limited to specific states, depending on state-specific or festival-related events. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announces state-specific bank holidays every month.

According to RBI rules, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays of every month. This time too, banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, i.e., February 14th and 28th. There are also four Sundays in February: 1st, 8th, 18th, and 22nd. This means there will be at least six holidays. However, February 18th, a Sunday, is the Losar festival in Sikkim.

Therefore, there will be one less holiday there. Thus, the number of bank holidays varies across different states of the country. In February, banks will be closed on occasions such as Losar, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, and State Day/State Foundation Day. Let's take a look at the dates and states where banks will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays in February.

Here is the bank holiday list:
February 18: Banks will be closed in Sikkim on February 18th in observance of the Losar festival. Losar, also known as the Tibetan New Year, is a major festival celebrated in Sikkim with great enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy.

February 19: Banks will be closed in Maharashtra on February 19, 2026, in observance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Shiv Jayanti, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Utsav, is a festival and public holiday in Maharashtra. This festival is celebrated on February 19th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the first Chhatrapati of the Marathas.

February 20: Banks will be closed in Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on February 20, 2026, in observance of State Day or State Foundation Day. Both Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram celebrate their Statehood Day on February 20th, marking the date in 1987 when they transitioned from Union Territories to full-fledged states.

Digital Banking Services
Bank customers can use internet banking, SMS banking, and WhatsApp banking services for financial and non-financial transactions after registering with their respective banks. Transactions such as viewing account balances and details, ordering checkbooks, paying bills, recharging prepaid phones, transferring money, booking hotels and travel tickets, viewing spending trends, and much more can be done as before. Stopping checks is also much easier with digital banking.
