In the last one year, gold and silver prices had reached record highs, which surprised even experienced investors. This rise was further intensified in January, when investors turned to gold and silver as safe investments amid global tensions, weakening currencies and concerns about the independence of the US Federal Reserve.

The major reason for the recent decline is believed to be the news that came out on Friday, in which it was said that US President Donald Trump is planning to nominate Kevin Worsh as the Fed Chair. After this news, the dollar strengthened and the sentiment of those traders who were expecting a soft dollar weakened.
