Repair work becomes a problem, vehicles crawling
The suspension joint (joint of bridge and road) of New Gammon Bridge was in a dilapidated condition for a long time. Repair work was started on a war footing from Friday, after which the New Gammon bridge was completely closed for traffic. Now the entire traffic load has come to the old Gammon bridge. The situation has gone out of control due to sudden increase in the pressure of vehicles on the same bridge. Trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles are moving slower than a turtle's speed.
Vehicles stranded for hours, everyday life affected
A large number of trucks, containers, goods vehicles, private vehicles and buses are lined up on both sides of the road. The problems of the drivers and passengers trapped amidst dust, sunlight and noise are clearly visible. Due to the jam, passengers have to remain stranded on the road for hours.
Trucks, buses, private vehicles and even ambulances carrying essential commodities are reported to be stuck in the jam. Local people say that it is directly affecting businesses, offices, schools and emergency services. Vehicle owners and various companies have also suffered losses worth crores of rupees due to the traffic jam.

Joint breaks again and again, questions on system
There is a lot of anger among the local villagers and passers-by regarding this problem. People say that the suspension joint has broken at this same place many times before. Every time a repair is made in the name of repair, due to which the same joint gets dislocated again after some time. This recurring problem is not only causing wastage of time, but it is also badly affecting the economic transport of the area. Due to repeated occurrence of faults at the same place, questions are being raised on the quality of repairs and permanent solutions.
