Abduction – Police authorities in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi district have recorded an uncommon abduction complaint after a local resident alleged that his young son was taken away under supernatural circumstances, according to local media reports.

The case surfaced after an 11-year-old boy from the garrison city reportedly vanished from his home on January 21. When days passed without any sign of the child, the family approached law enforcement, prompting officials at Taxila Police Station to formally register a First Information Report.
Missing Child Reported After Days of Uncertainty
According to the complaint, the boy left his residence and did not return, raising concern among family members. After waiting nearly ten days in the hope that the child would come back on his own, the boy’s father decided to seek police intervention.
The FIR states that the family believes their son did not leave voluntarily. Instead, the father alleged that unseen forces compelled the child to flee, leading him to formally accuse supernatural beings, commonly referred to as jinns, of abducting his son. Police officials confirmed that the report was registered based on the details provided by the complainant, as required under legal procedure.
Father Cites Earlier Similar Incidents
In his statement to the police, the father maintained that this was not the first time his son had gone missing under similar circumstances. He claimed that on several previous occasions, the boy had disappeared briefly but returned home within a short span, without sustaining harm.
However, the current situation differed significantly, the father said, as more than a week had passed with no information about the child’s whereabouts. This prolonged absence prompted him to treat the matter as a kidnapping and formally name the alleged cause in the police report.
Police Follow Standard Legal Procedure
Law enforcement officials in Rawalpindi noted that while the allegations are unusual, police are obligated to register cases based on the contents of a complaint and then assess the facts during the investigation process. Officers have stated that efforts are underway to trace the missing child through conventional investigative methods.
Authorities emphasized that missing persons cases are handled seriously, regardless of the nature of claims included in the initial report. Investigators typically focus on verifying timelines, interviewing witnesses, and examining any available leads to determine what may have occurred.
Similar Claims Have Emerged in Past Cases
Reports of legal complaints involving supernatural explanations are rare but not entirely unprecedented in Pakistan. In earlier years, police in Lahore received a complaint from a woman who claimed her married daughter had disappeared under similar circumstances. That case drew public attention after it progressed through the legal system.
In another notable instance, a long-standing missing person case in Lahore remained unresolved for years, attracting judicial scrutiny. A special investigation team was eventually formed to examine the matter after directions were issued by the Lahore High Court. The team was tasked with revisiting evidence and attempting to locate a woman who had been missing for several years.
Authorities Urge Focus on Evidence-Based Investigations
Legal experts have pointed out that while citizens are entitled to file complaints based on their beliefs, investigations ultimately rely on factual evidence. Police departments typically prioritize tangible leads such as communication records, eyewitness accounts, and physical traces when handling disappearances.
Officials involved in the Rawalpindi case have reiterated that the primary objective remains the safe recovery of the missing child. They have urged the public to cooperate with authorities and share any information that could assist in locating the boy.
As the investigation continues, the case has drawn attention for its unusual claims while also underscoring the broader challenges faced by law enforcement when dealing with missing children and distressed families.
