ICC warned Pakistan
On Pakistan's decision, ICC has said that Pakistan's decision to boycott the match against India in the upcoming Men's T20 World Cup 2026 weakens the fairness of global cricket, which can have long-term effects on the game in the country. The governing body said in a statement, 'The ICC has taken note of the statement by the Government of Pakistan in which it has directed its national team to participate selectively in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. "While the ICC is awaiting official information from the Pakistan Cricket Board, this selective participation situation is inconsistent with the core principle of a global sporting event, where all eligible teams are expected to compete on equal terms as per the event schedule."
The ICC further said, 'The ICC hopes that the PCB will consider the important and long-lasting consequences for cricket in its country, as this is likely to impact the global cricket ecosystem, of which it is a member and beneficiary. The ICC's priority remains the successful organization of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which should be the responsibility of all its members including the PCB. It is hoped that the PCB will find a solution that protects the interests of all stakeholders.
