New Delhi. Pakistan seems to be sticking to its strict stand regarding the decision of not playing the match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently not in favor of giving formal information about this decision in writing to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The reports quoted sources as saying that since this decision was taken at the Pakistan government level and made public through the official platform, there was no need to write a separate letter to the ICC. The Pakistan government had recently given permission to the team to participate in the tournament, but had asked it to stay away from the match against India.

It is being told that the PCB does not want to rush to clarify the position on this issue and is keeping options open for further strategy. On the other hand, the ICC has already indicated that selective participation is against the tournament rules and the spirit of the game, which could have serious consequences.

Experts believe that if the India-Pakistan match does not take place, the parties involved in broadcasting and sponsorship may suffer huge financial losses. This match is generally considered to be the match that attracts the most spectators in ICC tournaments.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani team has reached Sri Lanka, where it will play its other matches. According to sources, Pakistan has also taken advice on possible legal aspects and is preparing to defend its position in the event of any ICC action.
