But have you ever eaten red-red tomato pudding? Tomato halwa may sound a bit strange, but it tastes amazing. The slight sourness, sweetness and aroma of ghee looks very tasty. So come on, let us know how to make red-red tomato halwa.

Material

Ripe red tomatoes – 4–5 (large)
Ghee – 3–4 tbsp
Sugar – ½ cup
Milk – 1 cup
Khoya (Mawa) – ½ cup
Cashews, almonds – 2 tbsp (chopped)
Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
Saffron – 8-10 threads
A pinch of salt (to improve taste)

Method

  1. First of all, boil the tomatoes, peel them and make a smooth puree in a mixer.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, add tomato puree to it and cook on medium flame while stirring continuously. Till the mixture becomes thick and ghee starts appearing separately.
  3. Now add milk and cook for 5-7 minutes. Then add khoya and mix well. Add sugar, cardamom powder, saffron and a pinch of salt. Cook while stirring again.
  4. Add chopped cashews and almonds and turn off the gas when the halwa starts leaving the pan. Serve hot tomato halwa with some ghee on top.
