Politics – Former minister Jogi Ramesh on Monday publicly alleged that his life and the safety of his family members are under serious threat, holding Telugu Desam Party leader Nara Lokesh responsible for any untoward incident that may occur in the future. The remarks were shared through an official press release issued after his interaction with the media.

Allegations Raised During Media Interaction

Addressing reporters at his residence in Ibrahimpatnam, Jogi Ramesh was joined by leaders of the YSR Congress Party from Krishna and NTR districts. During the interaction, he claimed that the recent attack on his home was not a spontaneous act but a planned operation executed on the directions of Nara Lokesh. According to him, the incident was allegedly led by Member of Parliament Kesineni Chinni and carried out by party workers of the TDP.

He stated that petrol bombs were thrown at his residence with the intention of causing physical harm and creating fear among his family members. Jogi Ramesh further alleged that the attackers operated openly despite the presence of police personnel, whom he accused of offering passive support instead of intervening.

Claims of Political Intimidation

Jogi Ramesh asserted that the attack was part of a broader effort to suppress dissent and silence leaders who question the functioning of the current government. He alleged that backward class leaders within the YSRCP are being specifically targeted to discourage them from speaking out on governance issues.

Describing the incident as an attack not just on him but on democratic values, he claimed that hundreds of party workers were mobilised for the assault. He said such acts were intended to instil fear among marginalised communities and undermine political opposition voices.

Alleged Police Inaction and Counter Cases

The former minister expressed concern over what he described as selective policing. He claimed that despite submitting evidence and identifying individuals involved in the incident, no significant arrests had been made. Instead, he alleged that cases were being registered against him, diverting attention away from the original complaint.

He further stated that police personnel remained inactive during the attack, even though his elderly father, wife, and son were inside the house at the time. According to him, this failure to act placed his family members in grave danger and reflected a breakdown in law enforcement responsibility.

Response to Allegations Against Party Leadership

Jogi Ramesh also addressed accusations made against his party leadership, stating that he considers Lord Venkateswara his spiritual guide and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy his political leader. He questioned whether remaining silent was an option when, in his view, false narratives were being spread against his party and its leadership.

He reiterated that his criticism of the government stemmed from concerns over public issues and governance failures, and not from personal or political rivalry.

Determination to Continue Political Opposition

Despite the threats and legal challenges, Jogi Ramesh stated that he would continue to question the government and would not be deterred by arrests, cases, or intimidation. He accused the ruling leadership of repeatedly targeting him through legal actions without sufficient evidence, describing the latest incident as politically motivated.

According to him, the controversy surrounding issues such as the Tirumala laddu matter was being overshadowed deliberately by creating distractions through attacks and counter-allegations.

Warning and Call for Accountability

Concluding his statement, Jogi Ramesh said he would remain steadfast with the support of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party workers. He expressed confidence that those responsible for the attack would eventually be held accountable through legal processes.

He also issued a caution to police officials whom he accused of aligning with the ruling party, reminding them that governments change and accountability is inevitable. He stressed that actions taken today would be reviewed in the future under the rule of law.
