Crime Scene Declared in Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

Authorities in Tucson, Arizonahave officially classified the home of Nancy Guthriethe 84-year-old mother of NBC “Today” host Savannah Guthrieas a crime sceneamid a widening search for the missing woman. Nancy was last seen Saturday night around 9:30 p.m.and her family reported her missing around noon on Sunday.

During a Monday news conference, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that based on evidence at the scene, it appears Nancy Guthrie did not leave her home voluntarily. He pointed to signs that conflicted with her physical limitations and suggested foul play cannot be ruled out.

While Sheriff Nanos didn’t elaborate on all the details, he noted that Nancy’s limited mobility and other evidence found at the residence led investigators to bring in the department’s homicide teaman unusual step for a missing persons case.

Nancy Guthrie, who has physical ailments but no cognitive issuesis the focus of a multi-agency search that includes drones, K9 units, volunteers, Border Patroland specialized search and rescue teams.
