Cricket Gully | February 3, 2026 5:39 PM CST

The Bangladesh High Court on February 1 has called out the Bangladesh Cricket Board's inactivity towards sexual allegations made by Bangladeshi female cricketers. Notably, a Bangladeshi female shooter, Sabrina Sultana, had submitted a formal written petition, following which the court show-caused the board. As per reports from The Daily Star, the court has asked the board to explain why inactivity should not be considered unlawful and "against public interest."

Notably, overlooked Bangladeshi bowler Jahanara Alam made serious sexual allegations against top members of the board. Even though BCB vowed to take action, nothing formal has been seen so far.

BCB claimed that they had made a committee of three members to investigate. But they decided to not move forwards with us, as Alam reportedly asked for some time to submit a written complaint. this was in December 2nd. And then on December 21, BCB again postponed things, saying the committee would submit its report by January 31.

What did the court say?

Following the writ petition, the Bangladesh High Court has finally summoned the BCB, asking for the details of whatever steps that might be taken or they have taken so far. Not only that, the court ordered the board to implement "anti-sexual harassment policies with specified guidelines of judgement. The court clarified that these measures must be done even when the hearings are going on.

What were Jahanara Alam's accusations?

Around November last year, in an interview with a YouTube channel, Alam accused frequent inappropriate physical contact with team manager and former selector Manjrul Islam. She even accused Islam of doing that to most of the players even though they used to make fun of that.

She alleged the officials of making lewd comments and intrusive questioning about her menstrual cycle. She even claimed to have received repeated "indecent proposals" from officials. Will the public know about the report?

There has been no clarification if BCB will bring the report to the public or not. However, a Cricbuzz report suggested that BCB has got the investigation report on the sexual harassment case.

BCB is currently dealing with a lot of issues. Recently the BCB Integrity Unit barged into foreign players' rooms without notice for "routine operations" based on "credible suspicions." This mades franchise warn the board of withdrawing from the league.

Players even boycotted the league matches after a former board member passed derogatory financial comments on them. And definitely, the chaos between the BCCI and BCB regarding 2026 T20 World Cup participation is no doubt the highlight of all the crises they are dealing with right now.
