Kanpur. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) chief pitch curator Shiv Kumar died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday evening. He was about 57 years old. UPCA official Ahmed Ali Talib said that curator Kumar suffered a heart attack at around 4 pm today when he was busy in the construction of the pitch at the Greenpark ground.
He was taken to a nearby private hospital where the doctors referred him to the Cardiology Institute but he stopped breathing at the cardiology gate itself. His last rites will be performed on Wednesday in his home district Bareilly. Kumar’s wife and children are in Pune and have been informed about his demise. Kumar was also serving as the consulting curator for the Central Zone in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Kumar, who is very hardworking and friendly, has helped in pitch construction as a curator in many stadiums of the country. Many personalities from the cricket world have expressed deep condolences on his demise. His mortal remains have been kept at the Greenpark Stadium where there is a huge crowd of people paying their respects to him.
