A 36-year-old police head constable attached to the Kadri Traffic Police Station in Mangaluru died after suffering a brain haemorrhage, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Maruti Lamani, who was working as the driver of a highway patrol vehicle at the Kadri traffic police station. He reportedly collapsed at his residence in Bikarnakatte after returning home from night duty on Sunday.
He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit and underwent treatment. However, he succumbed to his condition on Tuesday as the treatment did not yield results.
Maruti Lamani was a native of Haveri district and had joined the police department in 2016. He is survived by his wife Jakkavva, a constable posted at the Kadri police station, and their two daughters.
