Kazakhastani tennis player Elena Rybakina has won the Australian Open final to clam the title.
Elena beat Aryna Sabalenka in the final match that was played on January 31 in Melbourne to secure the title.
The tennis player beat Aryna, who is currently ranked the number one player in the world by WTA in women’s singles as well as double’s.
The 26-year-old won the match by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the thrilling match.
The match was also historic as Elena reversed her loss against Aryna that came in 2023 match.
She is also the first Kazakhstani to win a major and to be ranked in the world’s top 10
After winning the title, Elena siad “I always believed that I can come back to the level I was.”
“When you get big wins against top players, you start to believe more. It’s a win for all the team.”
Along with the title, Elena was given prize money of AUD 4.15 million.
The men’s single’s final will be played between Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz and Serbian player Novak Djokovic on February 1.
