Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was again speaking in the Lok Sabha today regarding a quote from the unpublished book of former Army Chief Manoj Naravane. Regarding this, the Speaker stopped him from speaking and gave the opportunity to other MPs to speak. But due to the uproar, the proceedings of the House had to be stopped several times. Meanwhile, the MPs threw pieces of torn paper towards the Speaker’s chair.

When the proceedings of the Lok Sabha started for the fourth time at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the Presiding Officer clearly said that the names of the members who threw papers towards the Speaker would be recorded. After this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju proposed to suspend such MPs. The House approved the proposal by voice vote. Despite this the uproar did not seem to stop.

According to the incident, during the discussion in the House, some members of the opposition suddenly tore papers and threw them towards the Speaker, due to which there was chaos in the House. The Speaker termed this behavior as indiscipline of the House and took immediate action. Under Rule 374, it was decided to suspend these MPs for the entire session, after which they would be debarred from sitting in the House, debating or participating in any proceedings.
