Akasa Air inducts 33rd Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, second fleet addition in 2026.
Akasa Air on Tuesday inducted its 33rd aircraft into the fleet, marking its second aircraft addition since January 2026 and underscoring the airline’s steady expansion plans.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft, bearing registration number VT-YBM, arrived at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on February 4. The delivery flight was operated by an all-women pilot crew comprising Captain Svetlana Pereira and First Officer Karen Noronha.

The first leg of the delivery journey commenced from Seattle in the United States to Keflavik in Iceland, followed by subsequent sectors, with the final leg flown from Larnaca in Cyprus to Bengaluru.
With one of the fastest fleet ramp-ups in Indian aviation, Akasa Air said it continues to align aircraft induction closely with network expansion and operational readiness, aimed at ensuring sustainable growth while maintaining service reliability. The latest addition is expected to further strengthen the airline’s domestic and international connectivity as it works towards its goal of becoming one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade.
The newly inducted aircraft has been built to Akasa Air’s specifications and is equipped with Safran Z200 seats. The seating features enhanced recline, ergonomic back support, improved cushioning, and integrated USB-A and USB-C charging ports, focusing on passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

Since beginning operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has followed a phased and disciplined fleet expansion strategy. The Boeing 737 MAX aircraft form part of the airline’s young and fuel-efficient fleet. Akasa Air has placed a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 193 more aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next six years to support India’s growing air travel demand.
Akasa Air currently operates 33 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, which offer improved fuel efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and reduced noise levels. The airline said the aircraft support its commitment to environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
At present, Akasa Air connects 26 domestic and six international destinations. Its domestic network includes cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Pune, Lucknow, Guwahati, Srinagar, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Darbhanga, Kozhikode, Navi Mumbai, Dibrugarh and others. International destinations include Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City and Phuket.
Since its launch, the airline has carried over 24 million passengers and continues to focus on long-term growth, reliability and affordable air travel, positioning itself as a key player in India’s rapidly expanding aviation market.
