News India Live, Digital Desk: Along with Budget 2026, the Central Government has given a big gift to international travelers by increasing the limit of ‘duty-free’ shopping. Now you can bring high value goods with you without any custom duty while returning from abroad.

New rules for jewellery: now weight is everything

The government has removed the ‘value cap’ (limit of rupees) on jewellery. now only Weight Exemption will be available on the basis of (if you are living abroad for more than 1 year):

Female Passenger: 40 grams Gold jewelery up to Rs. (without any price limit).

Male Passenger: 20 grams Gold jewelery worth Rs.

Laptop and Mobile: Good news for tech lovers

One laptop free: Any passenger above 18 years of age a new laptop or notebook Can be brought completely duty-free. This is in addition to the general limit of ₹75,000.

smart fone: Under the new rules, you can now even bring expensive smartphones within the limit of ₹75,000.

Digital Declaration: Say goodbye to paper forms

You no longer need to fill paper forms on the plane or at the airport:

Advance Declaration: Passengers now even before the flight lands QR-code based app Or you can declare your goods through the portal.

Fast Clearance: This will reduce the time taken at custom counters by 30%.

Alcohol and tobacco: have they changed?

Any change in the amount of alcohol and tobacco No Has been done:

Liquor/Wine: maximum 2 liters.

Cigarette: maximum 100 sticks (or 25 cigars / 125 grams of tobacco).

Condition: The passenger must be above 18 years of age and should not be coming by road from Nepal, Bhutan or Myanmar.

Annexure-I: Things which will not be exempted

These items are not included in the free limit of ₹75,000 and will have to pay duty:

Weapons and cartridges (more than 50).

Cigarettes/tobacco (exceeding prescribed limits).

LCD/LED TV (Still no general discount on TV).
