On a recent episode of Good Morning Britain, hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid were joined by The Traitors' stars Roxy Wilson and her mother Judy.

The duo appeared on the ITV programme to discuss the government's latest commitment to place 10,000 vulnerable children in foster homes, a topic close to Roxy's heart as she spent time in foster care before being adopted by Judy.

The conversation soon shifted to Roxy's pregnancy, with the BBC actress revealing the gender of her baby.

When asked by Susanna how her foster care experience has shaped her perspective on motherhood, Roxy responded: "I have been the luckiest person and blessed, I absolutely couldn't have asked for anything better in my life.

"Having a role model who mothered me and changed my life, the course of my life, everything about it. Hopefully, I'll be a great mum myself and look after my daughter the way I've been brought up as well."

Roxy announced her pregnancy in January, sharing a photo of her blossoming bump which was met with a wave of congratulatory messages.

She also revealed that her due date is June 12, expressing delight that her maternity leave will coincide with the summer months.

During the interview, ITV viewers discovered that Roxy was initially supposed to stay at Judy's home for a trial week before the adoption took place, reports WalesOnline.

However, after she contracted the flu, she never left, as her foster family didn't want her to return whilst she had it.

Speaking about the experience, which happened when she was a young child, Roxy commented: "I'd come from Bristol up to Doncaster for the visit. I was a bit unwell, so mum had made me a packed lunch for the train.

"I was all set to go back with my social worker to the Bristol foster carer. I just remember the call and the foster carer saying, 'Well, don't bring her back then.'"

Although Roxy told the two presenters that, as she had moved around quite a lot, it wasn't out of the ordinary not to return.

She added: "Mum snapped into action, she said to my brothers, 'Right, you're in this bedroom, Roxy has her own bedroom, she's the only girl'.

"She sat me down and said, 'You're a part of this family, we say I love you at nighttime and bedtime'. So it went from being, 'Oh my goodness, I'm not going back' to 'I'm here, and I'm staying.'"

Good Morning Britain is available to watch on ITVX.
