Fall in Sensex, bad condition of Nifty too, what happened after the budget?

The stock market has fallen flat after the budget. A big fall has been seen in the Sensex. The stock market is continuously falling. On one hand, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was presenting the country’s budget in the Parliament, on the other hand, the stock market was in turmoil. At one time the Sensex had fallen by 1600 points to the level of 80,600. Nifty also fell by 550 points. Securities tax had increased from 0.02 percent to 0.05 percent.

 

The government has now increased the Securities Transaction Tax (STT) from 0.02 percent to 0.05 percent. Now there has been a big decline in the market. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 28 are seeing a decline. A decline has also been seen in the sectoral index of Nifty.

Which sectors have been affected?

A decline has also been seen in media, pharma, financial and IT sectors. The situation is not better even in auto and private sector. When the Sensex opened with a fall of 100 points at 9.15 in the morning, it could not have been predicted that there would be such a huge fall. Nifty opened at the level of 25,275 with a fall of 50 points. Till 11 o’clock, there was a recovery of up to 500 points in Nifty, then once again a decline was seen.

What is the opposition saying on the budget?

Congress has termed the Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 as dull and disappointing. On Sunday he said that it does not live up to expectations. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh also claimed that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget speech was also not transparent and it did not provide information about budgetary allocation for major programs and schemes.

 

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27. He announced that the capital expenditure target will be increased to Rs 12.2 lakh crore from Rs 11.2 lakh crore for the current financial year. He also announced several measures to boost infrastructure in the country.
