Railway News : Manmad-Secunderabad Ajintha Express (17063/17064) is a very important daily train connecting Maharashtra and Telangana and has been running from Manmad station for more than three decades.
Directly connected to South India via Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Nanded, this train has become a lifeline for passengers in North Maharashtra. However, for the past several years, there has been a strong demand that this train should be started from Bhusawal station instead of Manmad.
Presently, Ajantha Express leaves Manmad at around 7 PM and returns to Manmad at 7 AM the next day.
During this, the train is stopped in the Manmad yard for almost 12 hours. Therefore, the railway authorities had earlier clarified that there is no time problem in extending the same train to Bhusawal.
There is a large number of passengers going to Secunderabad and South India from Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Chalisgaon, Pachora and the surrounding area. However, direct train service is available only three days a week for these passengers.
In addition, many trains do not stop at important junctions such as Chalisgaon and Pachora, so passengers have to go to Manmad. This increases time, cost and inconvenience.
If Ajantha Express starts from Bhusawal, thousands of passengers in North Maharashtra will be directly benefited. Moreover, there is also a possibility of reducing the pressure of passengers and trains at Manmad station.
An official proposal has been submitted to the railway administration in this regard, two years ago the then General Manager of Central Railway R. K. Yadav had also given a positive indication regarding the expansion to Bhusawal.
However, according to the commerce department of Bhusawal Division of Central Railway, this expansion is not possible at present. Officials say this may affect the schedule of other trains running between Bhusawal-Manmad.
Still, follow-up is being done by passenger organizations and citizens, and it is hoped that the railway administration will consider this demand positively and take an early decision.
