Mumbai Youth Congress Protest: Politics has once again heated up regarding the truth of the India-China conflict that took place in 2020 in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh and the publication of the memoir of former Army Chief General Manoj Naravane. On Wednesday, members of Mumbai Youth Congress staged a strong protest against the Modi government at the Center on this issue.

Sloganeering outside Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan

‘Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan’ in South Mumbai under the leadership of Mumbai Youth Congress President Zeenat Shabrin. A large number of workers gathered outside. The workers held placards in their hands and criticized the security policies of the Modi government and raised slogans. The protesters allege that the government is keeping the country in the dark on sensitive issues like national security.

‘What is PM Modi hiding?

During the demonstration, Zeenat Shabrin raised sharp questions and said that 20 of our soldiers were martyred in Galwan Valley in June 2020, but till date the entire truth of that incident has not been allowed to be revealed. Modi government is maintaining silence on major security issues. We demand that the government give a clear answer to the country on the China border dispute.

Controversy over General Naravane’s book

Youth Congress especially raised the issue of the book by former Army Chief General Manoj Naravane, the publication of which is currently banned. Shabarin alleged that the government does not want information about the ground situation and strategic decisions of that time to reach the public.

Referring to the proceedings of Parliament, he said that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is being prevented from speaking on this sensitive issue. He was not even allowed to quote the unpublished memoirs of General Naravane, which is an attack on freedom of information in a democracy.

Demand for strict action

Mumbai Youth Congress has demanded that whatever shortcomings were responsible for the martyrdom of soldiers in Galwan, their accountability should be fixed and action should be taken against the culprits. The activists made it clear that unless transparency is maintained on the border dispute and the General’s book, their protest will continue.
