Yuzvendra Chahal has chosen his playing XI for the T20 World Cup 2026 match against the USA which India will play on Saturday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, by excluding Ishan Kishan who played exceptionally well in the recent New Zealand series. Chahal supported his former team captain Sanju Samson through a video that Star Sports posted on X to show his preference for Samson to bat first with Abhishek Sharma despite Samson recent poor performance when he scored only 46 runs in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Chahal has selected Tilak Varma to bat at number three after the left-handed batter succeeded in that position during his previous matches.

The team selected T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav to bat at No. 4 while Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh will serve as middle-order players and finishers for the team.

Chahal selected Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy as his two spinners while he chose Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh as his two specialist seamers. The combination left no room for his partner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI. Kuldeep has played just five T20I matches since the 2025 Asia Cup Final.

India will compete against Pakistan and the USA and the Netherlands and Namibia in Group A of the tournament. India will attempt to become the first team to win the Men’s T20 World Cup title defense succeed and the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil and the first team to win the T20 World Cup title three times.

Chahal’s playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah.
