Animal Park production timeline confirmed as Sandeep Reddy Vanga shares fresh update
After months of speculation and fan curiosity, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has finally confirmed key details about Animal Park, the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal. The update has brought clarity on the film’s production timeline and narrative direction, while also confirming Ranbir Kapoor’s expanded role in the franchise. The announcement was made during a virtual media interaction held ahead of Animal’s Japan premiere, reigniting interest in one of Hindi cinema’s most discussed action dramas.

Animal Park shoot timeline confirmed

As per Zoom, Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirmed that Animal Park will go on floors in mid-2027. He clarified that work on the sequel will begin only after he completes his current project, Spirit, which stars Prabhas and is presently under production. The filmmaker indicated that the delay is purely due to scheduling commitments and not creative uncertainty, as the sequel’s storyline has been planned for a long time.

The confirmation puts to rest speculation about an early start date and gives fans a realistic timeline for the much-awaited follow-up.

Why the sequel is titled Animal Park

During the interaction, Vanga explained the thinking behind naming the sequel Animal Park. He indicated that the second part will expand the universe established in Animal by introducing more dangerous and complex characters. According to him, the title reflects a space where multiple “animals” coexist, clash, and compete for dominance.

He elaborated that Aziz, a key character introduced earlier, represents another powerful force in the story. With the conflict now shifting into a battle between two similar-looking brothers, the director felt the sequel needed a title that captured this escalation. The idea of a “park” was used to suggest a larger arena filled with multiple threats, rather than a single central figure.

Ranbir Kapoor to play a double role

Ranbir Kapoor, who was also present during the virtual press meet, confirmed that he will return as Ranvijay Singh while also portraying Aziz, the antagonist. This double role was hinted at in the post-credits sequence of Animal and will now form the emotional and narrative core of the sequel.

The actor shared that Vanga had clarity on the second part’s storyline even while shooting the first film. He described the process as creatively fulfilling and said their frequent discussions about ideas and character arcs have kept him deeply invested in the project. According to Kapoor, stepping back into the intense world of Animal while exploring a darker counterpart is both challenging and exciting.

High expectations after Animal’s success

Released in 2023, Animal emerged as a massive commercial success, earning over ₹900 crore worldwide. Despite divided critical opinions, the film struck a chord with audiences and created a strong fan base for its characters. Animal Park is expected to push the narrative further, with a sharper focus on rivalry, identity, and moral conflict.

Industry reports, including Mid-Day, suggest that Vanga may be planning a trilogy, with Animal Park serving as a crucial bridge to a larger climax. While no official confirmation has been made on a third film, the scale and ambition of the sequel point toward a long-term vision for the franchise.

With Animal Park scheduled for mid-2027, both the director and lead actor have busy slates ahead. Ranbir Kapoor is set to appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War before returning to the Animal universe.
