How did the ‘Baal’ document instigate a new conspiracy?

A financial document revealed in the new Epstein Files added fuel to the fire. The document shows a wire transfer request for $11,438, with the bank name listed as Wachovia Bank, NA. A faint line appears across the top of the document, which many read as “Baal name.” After this the screenshots went viral on social media platform X. One user wrote that ‘Baal is a demonic entity who was worshiped in ancient Israel, in which children were sacrificed…’

Another post claimed that a bank account of Jeffrey Epstein was named ‘Baal’. In the Bible, Jeremiah strongly criticizes the Jews because they sacrificed children as part of an offering called ‘Molokh’ to please Baal.

Have investigating agencies confirmed these claims?

Till now no law enforcement agency has identified this building as a religious temple or any place of worship. Neither journalists, nor prosecutors, nor investigators have proved that any kind of worship, rituals or sacrifices were performed here. The building became a symbol of mystery after Epstein’s arrest in 2019 and his suspicious death in prison. When the US Justice Department released a new set of the Epstein Files in 2025, social media users began drawing bold conclusions by piecing together old photographs, documents and incomplete information.
