A road was taped off by police in Oldham after two children were struck by a car on Wednesday afternoon. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene in Rochdale Road near Royton at around 3.15pm after reports two children had been hit by a vehicle.
The road was closed in both directions near St Cuthbert's High School. Local media reports one of the children suffered minor injuries while the second was taken to hospital. Neither were believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries. No one has been arrested.
Police enquiries at the scene meant the road remained closed for several hours, according to the Manchester Evening News.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision had remained at the scene.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident police descended on The Library of Birmingham in the city's Chamberlain Square after concerns were raised over the welfare of a man.
Centenary Square was cordoned off by police during the incident which also saw an ambulance, paramedic officer and Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) at the scene.
West Midlands Police later confirmed that the man had come down from the building and was being looked after by welfare specialists.
