Father Brown recently made its return to our TV screens for a brand new series and one popular character has opened up on the reality of filming some scenes after suffering a nasty injury.
Among the dramatic storylines on the BBC show, viewers have seen Ruby-May Mathinwood's character Brenda go on a journey of self-empowerment as she covers the role of Parish Secretary and learns to drive with the help of Sergeant Goodfellow, played by John Burton.
Giving viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse on filming the driving scene with his co-star, John revealed that he was left in pain after "hitting the windscreen".
"We didn't film lots of it but the bits we did were great and I've seen some of the clips," The star said. "I did tell Ruby to really 'go for it' when she had to hit the brakes hard."
He added: "Forgetting these cars don't have seatbelts, so when she hit the brakes my head hit the windscreen, we were laughing so much, I didn't realise how much it had hurt until later."
Meanwhile, Ruby went on to explain how she enjoys her character Brenda having more "responsibility" and driving the classic cars was "interesting".
The actress, who has also starred in Death in Paradise and Taboo, went on to say: "I absolutely loved it, it was brilliant! 50s cars are beautiful, and It was so interesting learning how to drive them and about them all.
"It was nice for Brenda to have that responsibility and role within the series to utilise her new driving skills."
She added: "Lots of quick escapes and speeding onto the crime scenes. There's also some great comedic moments within the driving and learning, which was super fun to film, particularly with Mrs Sullivan and Goodfellow."
Alongside John and Ruby, Mark Williams also made a return to the series as Father Brown once again.
They are joined by fellow returning cast members, including Tom Chambers as Chief Inspector Sullivan and Claudie Blakley as Mrs Devine.
Sorcha Cusack, who played Mrs Bridgette McCarthy from season 1 to 9, also made a special guest return in episode 1.
Other stars who have appeared in previous episodes and are returning for new guest appearances include Nancy Carroll as Lady Felicia, John Light as Hercule Flambeau, Lex Shrapnel as Father Lazarus, Roger May as Canon Fox and Kieran Hodgson as Father Lindsey.
Meanwhile, brand new guest stars set to appear include Maureen Lipman, Julia Sawalha, Phil Daniels, Debra Stephenson, Davood Ghadami, Kevin Harvey, George Rainsford and Timothy Watson.
