Vogue Williams felt like her “heart was broken” after an “unbelievably sad” family moment. In September the podcaster and ITV presenter revealed her dog Winston had died.

Vogue has previously admitted that Winston, known as Winnie, had been a “huge part of the family” since coming into her life 14 years ago. During a social media tribute, she described the pooch as “one in a million”.

The former I’m A Celeb campmate says Winston was ill “on and off” towards the end of his life, fearing she would have to have him put to sleep. But in the end he died in Vogue’s family home as she sat by his side.

Now on her Vogue and Amber podcast, the mum-of-three called Winnie’s death the last time she felt “unbelievably sad”. It came during a discussion about emotions with her sister Amber Wilson.

Vogue said: “The last time I felt unbelievably sad was when Winston died. Like, I couldn’t, it was literally like my heart was broken and I was like, ‘How am I going to feel better about this?’”

Previously Vogue explained that she hoped Winston had “gone to a better place”. Speaking on her My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, she said: “I honestly thought I was going to have to take him to the vet and do that for him because he was sick on and off.

“But he just died. He was lying in the hall and he just died, but at least I was beside him and he’s gone to a better place.”

Co-host Joanna McNally said: “It’s so sad. It felt very sudden. Even though we knew he was sick it felt very sudden.”

Joanne went on to say there was something “sweet” about Winston dying with Vogue nearby. She said: “Winston is one of the few animals I’ve ever heard of to die naturally in the arms of their owner.

“Most pets from my experience, they get really sick, they have to be put down, I think there’s something really sweet about the fact that you were with him. In that he died of natural causes.”

Vogue admitted she was initially worried that Winston might die in the night. She said she was left “stressed” worrying what could happen to the beloved family dog.

She explained: “To be honest with you I actually did feel really lucky because I was really stressed about that, or it happening during the night when he was on his own, and then this morning he just lay down by the front door and he just died. He didn’t squeal or anything.”

Vogue says she took Winston for a “big long walk” the day before he died before he played with the family’s other dog Bertie. It led her to declare she isn’t getting another pet after Bertie dies, to avoid dealing with the loss.

She told Joanne: “I swear to God I’m never doing it again. After Bertie I’m never getting any pets again, it’s just too sad. I’ve been crying non-stop today and it’s a horrible feeling.”
