Stock Market Today: After three sessions of rise, the stock market fell, Sensex-Nifty opened at this many points.

Mumbai. Sensex and Nifty fell in early trade on Thursday after three sessions of rise amid weakness in global stock markets. BSE Sensex fell 278.72 points to 83,538.97 and NSE Nifty slipped 94.15 points to 25,681.85. Among the 30 companies included in the Sensex, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, Bharat Electronics, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel were the biggest losers.

Whereas Hindustan Unilever, Trent, NTPC, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and State Bank of India remained bullish. In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi fell more than three percent. Japan’s Nikkei 225, China’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng also remained in the negative zone. In US markets, the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.51 per cent and the S&P 500 fell 0.51 per cent on Wednesday.

Whereas Dow Jones Industrial Average closed with a gain of 0.53 percent. The price of international standard Brent crude fell by 2.07 percent to $ 68.02 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were buyers on Wednesday and bought shares worth Rs 29.79 crore. On the other hand, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 249.54 crore.
