Started from a simple village in Karnataka and rose to become one of the most influential creative forces in Indian cinema By Rishabh Shetty The journey is an inspiring story of determination, passion and clear goals. Born as Prashant Shetty in Keradi village in Kundapura taluk, Rishabh moved to Bangalore to chase his dreams. There he devoted himself to theater and traditional Yakshagana and earned his livelihood by doing odd jobs.
In his early days in cinema, he gained experience working behind the scenes and played supporting roles in films such as Tughlaq (2012), Lucia (2013) and Ulidavaru Kandante (2014). These experiences gave him a deep understanding of the nuances of filmmaking. In 2016, he made his directorial debut with the film Ricky. The blockbuster Kirik Party that followed established him as a promising director and effective storyteller.

Govt. Prof. School, Kasargodu, Koduge: Rishabh Shetty’s creative vision gained wider acclaim with the film Ramanna Rai (2018). The film won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. However, Kantara, who arrived in 2022, brought the golden moment of his career. The film was written, directed and played by Rishabh himself. Kantara became a cultural phenomenon and won him the National Film Award for Best Actor, as well as Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
This successful streak continued with Kantara: Chapter 1. The film strengthened his presence across India and re-proved his dominance at the box office.
