PM Modi’s visit to Malaysia : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on an official visit to Malaysia from 7 to 8 February. Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs, Periyasamy Kumaran gave information about this visit on Thursday. Kumaran said this would be the PM’s third visit to Malaysia and his first after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to India in 2024.

“Our PM had earlier visited Malaysia in 2015. During that visit, India-Malaysia bilateral relations were elevated to the level of an enhanced strategic partnership,” External Affairs Ministry Secretary (East) Periyasamy Kumaran said at a press conference. “This upcoming visit comes within a year and a half of improving our bilateral relations, which reflects India’s strong commitment to our relations with Malaysia, a key partner in India’s Act East Policy,” he said.
“We are also looking at infrastructure projects like railways, renewable energy and collaboration,” says Kumaran. “We are also looking at increasing scholarships and setting up a center for Indian studies, the Thiruvalluvar Center for Indian Studies.”
