RCB became champion by chasing the biggest target in WPL history, Delhi Capitals defeated again

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 title. RCB has captured the WPL title for the second time by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets in the final match. When invited to bat first in the title match played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Thursday (5 February), DC scored a huge score of 203 runs, which RCB achieved by losing 4 wickets in 19.4 overs. This is the biggest run chase in WPL history.

 

Captain Smriti Mandhana played a big role in this historic victory of RCB. Smriti played a brilliant inning of 87 runs in 41 balls. She was out in the 19th over. At that time RCB needed 13 runs in 8 balls. Radha Yadav got a lease of life as soon as she came to the crease and she took advantage of it and put the trophy in RCB’s bag. RCB needed 10 runs in the last over. Radha took a single on the first ball. After this Nadine de Klerk also scored 1 run. Now Radha had a strike.

 

Radha sent the third ball for a four. After this, he also hit a four on the fourth ball and handed another heart-breaking defeat to Delhi Capitals. DC has lost the final for the fourth consecutive time. Apart from Smriti, Georgia Wall also played an excellent innings for RCB. Wall scored 79 runs in 54 balls.

DC’s luck has not changed

Earlier, DC had lost all the finals under the captaincy of Meg Lanning. This time the command of the team was in the hands of Jemimah Rodrigues. Jemimah played a captaincy inning of 57 runs in 37 balls in the final and took the team beyond 200 but still DC’s luck did not change.

After scoring 203 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs, DC sent the dangerous Grace Garris (9) to the pavilion in the very second over. It seemed that they had tightened the noose on the match but Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Wall turned the tables by making a partnership of 165 runs for the second wicket. For DC, Sheneli Henry took 2 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs. Earlier, he had done wonders with the bat and scored unbeaten 35 runs in 15 balls.
