Tezzbuzz Desk – What if a simple, broken down constable is somehow managing his life by stealing vegetables from the jail and falls in love with a woman serving life imprisonment in the same jail? It may sound like an old-fashioned emotional story, but ‘Vadh 2’ goes much further than this. This film is not just a story of love or tears, but is such a dangerous combination of love, cruelty of the system and crime, which keeps revolving in the mind even after the film is over.

The beginning of the film may seem slow, but as the story progresses, you understand that this is the silence before a big storm. If Sanjay Mishra impressed in the first ‘Vadh’, his work in ‘Vadh 2’ is even darker and scarier.

Story

The story of ‘Vadh 2’ revolves around Shambhunath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra). He is not a hero, but an ordinary constable tortured by the system, whose back has been broken by circumstances. The son has broken the relationship with his father by becoming an NRI, but has left behind a huge education loan. The compulsion increases so much that Shambhunath steals vegetables from the jail garden and sells them so that he can run his household.

Manju (Neena Gupta) is serving life imprisonment in this jail for 28 years, who is accused of two murders. A quiet, silent relationship is formed between the two—two broken people supporting each other. Nafisa, a sensitive female officer, helps in these meetings.

The real twist in the story comes when the new jailer Prakash Singh (Kumud Mishra) enters the jail. He believes in casteism, but hates corruption. It is in this jail that a dangerous prisoner, Keshav, runs a coin, who suddenly disappears one day. The sudden disappearance of a prisoner from a high-security prison pushes the entire story into the darkness of mystery and suspense. To know what happens next, it is important to watch the film.

How is the movie?

‘Vadh 2’ is the story of a dangerous counterattack born out of the compulsion of a common man. There is sweetness of love and also the coldness of revenge in it. The suspense of the film reminds you of ‘Gupt’, while the emotional depth is like ‘Lunch Box’. This story makes an impact because it is not about any superhero, but about common people.

Directing and writing

Director-writer Jaspal Singh Sandhu has proved that a big budget doesn’t matter when it comes to a strong story. The pace of the film is balanced and the script is very smart. The clues are there right in front of you, but you ignore them—and that’s the beauty of it. The dialogues are honest and down to earth, which makes the characters more real.

acting

Sanjay Mishra is the life of this film. The fatigue, pain and sudden dangerous glint in their eyes start scaring you. Neena Gupta, in the role of Manju, has said a lot by speaking less—her pauses and silences reveal the pain of 28 years. Kumud Mishra has become such a police officer, whom you both understand and fear. Akshay Dogra has created hatred in the character of Keshav, while Amit K. Singh makes an impact as the investigating officer.

If you like cerebral thrillers like ‘Drishyam’ and ‘Andhadhun’, then ‘Vadh 2’ is for you. There is no gunfight here, no noise – only mind games. If you are a fan of fast-paced, big action and larger-than-life cinema, this film may seem slow to you.
