Trump wants to establish power over the whole world by sitting in the office of the American president for the second time. He also imposed a bunch of sanctions on Iran. Not only that, Trump also showed ‘bloody eyes’ to India over Chabahar in October last year. By showing ‘tariff-juju’, he practically ordered India not to do any activity at Chabahar port. Cut off commercial relations with Iran. But Chabahar port is strategically important to India. Then after a long discussion of the US administration, a 6-month concession was granted. That period ends on April 26. What happens next? That is the question.

According to experts, America gave 6 months for India to wrap up its activities from Chabahar port. In this situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened its mouth about the whole matter. Meanwhile, in the recently presented Union Budget, this is the first time that the Narendra Modi government has allocated zero to Chabahar Port. If you look at the past, you will see that the center has been allocating a huge amount of money every year to this important port of India on Iranian soil. New Delhi spent Rs 400 crore on this project in the financial year 2024-25. The budget for the financial year 2025-26 was initially allocated Tk 100 crore but in the end it was increased to Tk 400 crore. However, the Narendra Modi government at the Center did not allocate a single paisa for the Chabahar port in the financial year 2026-27. Opponents have raised concerns about India’s behavior towards Chabahar. In this situation, the Center responded to the opposition in Parliament on Thursday. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said in a written reply that the government is in touch with all parties concerned to address the impact of US sanctions or recent changes in tariff policies on India’s participation in the Chabahar project.

May 2016. That’s when India-Iran-Afghanistan signed an agreement on Chabahar. India has promised to invest heavily in the modernization and expansion of the Chabahar port, which is located very close to Pakistan’s southwestern border and waters. In return, the right to use Chabahar port. After that, Islamabad raised questions against the Chabahar project. Alleging that India is building this port to use Afghanistan to create instability on Pakistani soil. Chin also worried about chabahar.

China has already built a port in Pakistan’s Gwadar on the Arabian Sea as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). For the sake of easy communication with Central Asia, China hoped that different countries of the world would have to rely on this port built by Chinese initiative on the soil of Pakistan. But China-Pakistan did not expect India to build a port at Chabahar, less than 200 km by sea from Gwadar.

Note that Chabahar is very important to India from a strategic point of view. In the interests of the country’s security and without using Pakistan’s territory, India built a seaport in Iran’s Chabahar to strengthen trade relations with Afghanistan, Iran and Central Asian countries. Gave a total of 50 million dollars.
