Team India has defeated England by 100 runs in the final of Under-19 World Cup 2026. With this, India has become the U19 World Champion for a record sixth time. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the star of the Indian team’s victory, who played a devastating inning of 175 runs at the Harare Sports Club Ground. Vaibhav faced 80 balls and hit 15 fours and 15 sixes, due to which India set a huge target of 412 runs for England. In response, the England team was reduced to 311 in 40.2 overs.
Mhatre joins the club of giants
Indian captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the start of Team India was not good. Aaron George, the centurion of the semi-final match, was out on the last ball of the fourth over. He could score only 9 runs in 11 balls. After the opening pair broke at the score of 20 runs, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre made a partnership of 142 runs. Mhatre returned to the pavilion after scoring 53 runs in 51 balls.
Even after Mhatre’s departure, the aura of grandeur remained intact. He completed his century in 55 balls and then reached 150 runs in the next 16 balls. Even though Vaibhav missed the double century, he had taken the team to a very strong position. When his wicket fell, Team India’s score was 251/3 in 25.3 overs. After this, Vedant Trivedi (32), Vihaan Malhotra (30), Abhigyan Kundu (40) and Kanishk Chauhan (37 not out) played useful innings to take India beyond 400, which proved impossible for England.
Mhatre became the sixth Indian captain to win the Under-19 World Cup title. He made it to the club of legends like Mohammad Kaif and Virat Kohli.

How was England’s batting?
The England team, which came to chase the huge target, lost its first wicket for 19 runs. After this, the English team started scoring runs at a fast pace but the Indian bowlers gave them shocks at frequent intervals. At one time, the England team, which had scored 174 runs at the loss of 3 wickets, was looking to be in the contest but its innings fell apart as soon as Ben Dawkins (66) was out. Within no time his score became 177/7. Caleb Faulkner remained consistent from one end and also scored an inning of 115 runs in 67 balls but it could only reduce the margin of defeat. England also had to face defeat by India in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup final.
RS Ambareesh took maximum 3 wickets in this match for Team India. Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan took 2 wickets each. Whereas Khilan Patel and Mhatre took 1 wicket each.
