Being a flight attendant might appear glamorous, but often it's a little bit more than that. Cabin crew staff get to explore destinations and find themselves in completely different time zones multiple times each week.
However, you'd be mistaken to think it's simply just travel and complimentary getaways once a week - there's actually considerably more involved. One TUI flight attendant shared footage offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of cabin crew life - and it's remarkably candid.
Livvy Louvain describes her content as My Digital Diary and regularly provides valuable insight into her globe-trotting work days, alongside her personal experiences.
In a TikTok video shared with her 24,800 followers, Livvy, who appears in TUI uniform, sarcastically remarked "being cabin crew is so glamorous" while demonstrating it's certainly anything but at times.
The footage begins with Livvy staring at the camera as Foster The People's Pumped Up Kicks plays over the video while she starts emptying a bin overflowing with rubbish from the flight.
Changing bins at home is one matter, but mid-flight, the waste is liable to contain everything imaginable, from discarded drink containers to food wrappers and perhaps used tissues - utterly unpleasant.
So Livvy opted to showcase precisely how sophisticated her position can be as the entire footage features her dealing with that single bag before fitting a fresh one.
In the comments section, viewers can be spotted chuckling at how authentic she appeared in the video, which was recorded in the cabin crew section of the aircraft. Additional footage shows Livvy preparing for her shift, applying her makeup.
She posted: "POV: You're getting ready for 'work' which is basically just a paid holiday with your friends."
Cabin crew members have a demanding role ensuring passenger safety and wellbeing, while serving as the main contact point for travellers during flights.
Primary responsibilities include carrying out pre-flight safety inspections, delivering safety briefings, overseeing cabin security, providing meals and drinks and handling emergencies such as evacuations and medical situations.
Numerous challenges accompany working as cabin crew, including coping with on-call rotas, periods away from family, weekend shifts, regular time zone adjustments and restricted career progression opportunities and flight disruptions.
