Aligarh. Indian cricketer Rinku Singh’s ‘Facebook’ account has been hacked. A senior police officer said on Friday that it is not yet clear whether any financial fraud has taken place in this or not. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Neeraj Kumar said that Rinku Singh had informed him over the phone earlier this week about his social media account being hacked.
SSP said that after this, the cricketer’s brother Sonu Singh lodged a written complaint in the cyber cell of Aligarh on Wednesday and demanded action in this matter. According to the police, Rinku Singh, a resident of Aligarh, was not actively monitoring his ‘Facebook account’ for the last several months due to his busy cricket schedule.
Change in mail ID and bank details
Investigation revealed that Rinku’s Facebook ID was linked to her personal mail ID, which was changed by the hackers and linked to a new commercial mail ID. Besides, bank details to monetization were also changed. Now hackers themselves are uploading photos and videos and depositing the entire advertisement earnings into their accounts.
What did SP say?
SSP Kumar said, “It is not clear when the Facebook account was hacked. The Cyber Crime Branch has started a detailed investigation into the matter. Police said that efforts are being made to trace the source of the hacking and ensure that there is no financial loss or misuse of the account due to the hacking.
