Mumbai/New Delhi — Singer-composer Amaal Mallik has taken to social media to rebuke a fan who misquoted his father while trolling Bigg Boss 19 contestant Farrhana Bhattexpressing frustration with the pervasive negativity surrounding the show’s latest controversies.

In an X (formerly Twitter) exchange that quickly drew attention from other viewers, Mallik responded sharply after a fan referenced comments allegedly made by his father, questioning the authenticity of the remark and condemning the broader critical tone aimed at Bhatt. The composer did not mince words in his rebuttal.

‘People like you need to be educated’

Mallik’s response came after a follower cited an alleged statement by his father pertaining to the ongoing debate over Farrhana Bhatt’s behaviour on Bigg Boss 19. Dismissing the fan’s claim, he wrote, “People like you need to be educated before posting this stuff claiming my father said such a thing.” The singer emphasised that attributing statements to others without verification was misleading and unhelpful.

“Sick of this BB bullsht negativity from people who have no idea what they’re talking about,” he added, underscoring his exasperation with the tone of discourse online.

The remarks reflect growing impatience among some viewers and participants with how Bigg Boss 19 controversies have played out on social media, with fans often amplifying snippets of conversation or alleged quotes in ways that distort context.

Background to the online clash

The remarks from Mallik follow a wave of debate stemming from Bigg Boss 19 incidents involving Farrhana Bhatt and comments from other contestants, including Mallik himself, during the show. While the singer’s on-camera disagreements with Bhatt have been well documented in past episodes, the recent online defence focused on how fans were representing his father’s viewsrather than the original Bigg Boss interactions that garnered headlines earlier in the season.

Although details about the fan’s original post were not published by major news outlets, screenshots circulating online showed references to words allegedly spoken by Mallik’s father — a claim the composer firmly rejected.

Amaal Mallik on negativity and online discourse

Mallik’s comments captured a broader frustration that some public figures feel when fan speculation and online commentary take on a life of their own. “If you don’t have the context, don’t make up conversations and use people’s names,” he said, reiterating his concern about misinformation.

His stance resonated with several followers who have called for more measured discussion around the show and its contestants, rather than mass criticism or distortion of facts.

The Farrhana Bhatt controversy

Farrhana Bhatt, an actress and one of the Bigg Boss 19 contestants, has been a flashpoint in multiple debates this season. Her volatile exchanges inside the Bigg Boss house, including clashes with other participants, have triggered commentary from fans across platforms. Some of her remarks and interactions have been interpreted negatively by segments of the audience, prompting both criticism and defence from different fan groups.

In a separate but development earlier in the season, Bhatt’s family reportedly issued a legal notice to Amaal Mallik’s aunt after Roshan Garry Bhinder was accused of referring to the actress as a “terrorist” in a YouTube interview — a claim described as defamatory and “communally charged” by her legal team. The family demanded removal of the video and sought ₹1 crore in damages for reputational and emotional harm.

Social media reaction

Mallik’s public pushback against the fan’s misquote received mixed responses online. Some followers praised him for correcting misinformation, while others reiterated their criticism of Bigg Boss 19 content and narrative arcs.
