Ghuskhor Pandat: As soon as the teaser of Manoj Bajpayee starrer upcoming OTT film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ was released, there was an uproar across the country. After the teaser was released, protests started everywhere. Brahmin organizations expressed strong opposition to this, after which the Central Government gave instructions to remove the teaser from all platforms. At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak had requested the Central Government regarding the title of this film. Accepting this request, instructions have been given to remove the title of ‘Briber Pundit’.
Bribery scholar’s title will change
The teaser of OTT film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ was released on 3 February. There was a dialogue in the teaser of Manoj Bajpayee’s film, in which the character named Ajay Dixit calls himself ‘infamous Pandit’ and also speaks some indecent words. After this protests started across the country.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak had sought intervention from the Central Government in the matter of this film amid the uproar. He had said that such titles harm social harmony. Now accepting his request, the Central Government has given instructions to change the title of the film. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak himself has released a video giving this information.
While posting a video of himself on social media, he wrote – ‘The word Pandit has been a symbol of scholarship and sacrifice. The contribution of Brahmins has been in the first line in nation building. The film titled ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’, which was proposed to be released in the future by inappropriately pointing out the Brahmin community on the OTT platform, was going to hurt the sentiments of a particular class, in relation to which I had requested the Government of India to remove the title of the film.
He further wrote – ‘Accepting my request, the Government of India has issued strict instructions to remove this title on the OTT platform and has given instructions not to make such inappropriate comments on any particular class in future in films, web series and other mediums, which may lead to social hatred. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for accepting this demand.’
Manoj Bajpayee apologized
At the same time, after the uproar over the teaser of the film, actor Manoj Bajpayee has also apologized. While posting the story on his Instagram account on the morning of 6th February, he wrote – ‘I respect the sentiments that people have expressed. The teaser and promotional posters of the film have been removed. My intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
