Tezzbuzz Desk – Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’ is embroiled in controversies even before its release. Recently, Netflix released the list of its films and web series to be released in the year 2026. Meanwhile, the first look of Manoj Bajpayee starrer film was also revealed, after which there was a huge uproar on social media. The resentment over the name of the film increased so much that demands were raised to ban it.
What is the whole controversy?
Immediately after the announcement of the film, the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha of Jaipur lodged a protest against it. The organization alleges that the image of the Brahmin community is being harmed by names like ‘Ghooshkhor Pandit’. He says that through this title Brahmins are being linked to corruption and crime, which is completely wrong. The matter did not stop here, amidst the protests, a petition to ban the film has also been filed in the Delhi High Court. The makers have also been warned to change the name of the film.
Director Neeraj Pandey’s reaction
After the controversy escalated, the film’s director Neeraj Pandey expressed his views through social media. While sharing a long post on Instagram, he made it clear that this film is a completely fictional cop drama. Neeraj Pandey wrote that the word ‘Pandit’ has been used in the film only as a surname of a fictional character and has nothing to do with any caste, religion or community. The story is based on the decisions and actions of just one person.
First look removed
The director further said that as a filmmaker, he presents his stories with full responsibility and sensitivity. However, he also admitted that the title of the film has hurt the sentiments of some people. Keeping this in mind, the makers have currently removed all the promotional material and first look of the film. Neeraj Pandey says that the story and intention of any film should be understood only after watching it completely, and not on the basis of a few glimpses.
